3 keys for Seton Hall Basketball to upset Xavier Musketeers in Big East clash
With a record of 16 wins and 12 losses, Seton Hall Basketball is having what could be called a mediocre season at best, thus far. Yes, they are technically having a winning season, but they’ve lost three out of their last four games and currently sit in sixth place in the Big East. That’s a far cry from the preseason expectations of a program that boasts seven seniors and entered the season looking to build off of last year’s NCAA Tournament appearance.
Games against Conference rivals carry additional weight because they have a direct impact on the seeding for the Conference Tournament. Seton Hall’s next opponent, the Xavier Bulldogs, is currently ranked third in the Big East; beating them would not only boost Seton Hall’s confidence, it would also increase their chances at a favorable seed in the Big East Tournament. The winner of the tournament gets an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, therefore, giving your team the best possible chance at winning is imperative.
The Seton Hall Pirates are currently 6th in the Big East. They will have to implement a strategy to upset the 3rd-place Xavier Musketeers on Friday.
In the Pirate’s December 20th loss to the Musketeers on the road, they were outrebounded, turned the ball over 14 times, and allowed Xavier Senior forward Zach Freemantle to erupt for 23 points. If Seton Hall wants to get a different result this time around, they are going to have to implement an entirely different strategy. Let’s take a closer look at the steps Seton Hall must take in order to pull off the upset against Xavier on Friday night.
