9. Arizona Wildcats – 24-5 (13-5 Pac-12)

The Wildcats had just one game this week and it was their home finale against rival Arizona State. They’re a team that was in desperate need of another signature victory to try to get on the right side of the bubble. Arizona already had a 69-60 win over them earlier in Tempe and a season sweep would be sweet for several reasons.

It was a close and high-scoring game throughout but Arizona did manage a 10-point lead with under seven minutes to go. However, they weren’t able to pull away, allowing the Sun Devils to stay close enough to make a half-court buzzer-beater to win the game, 89-88, and effectively taking Arizona out of the Pac-12 regular-season title race.

Cedric Henderson had 19 points, while Azuolas Tubelis had 17 points and nine rebounds. Pelle Larsson also had 16 points, including what looked like the go-ahead layup in the final seconds. But allowing ASU to shoot 54% from the field proved to be their undoing.

Arizona goes to Los Angeles in the final two games of the regular season, taking on USC and UCLA. While the conference title won’t be up for grabs most likely, the Wildcats still need to defend its current 2 seed out west from the Selection Committee bracket reveal earlier.
