The time is running short before March Madness is really here. Conference tournaments are already underway across the nation and all of them will be starting or done within the next few days. Just over a week from now we’ll be at Selection Sunday and get that ever-coveted 68-team bracket. The NCAA Tournament is the prime postseason competition in American sports and we can almost taste this year’s edition.

Figuring out the 68 teams that will make the Big Dance is no easy process, and we’re still quite far from nailing down that list. Nearly half of the bids are automatically given to those conference tournament winners, while another two dozen are at-larges that have already virtually locked up their bids. What remains is a large swath of teams hoping to fill the remaining spots and sweating out the last week of the season on the bubble.

There are a few different kinds of teams on the bubble and today we’ll be taking a broader look at nearly all of them. Some of these teams are mid-majors who could be at-large teams if they don’t win their conference tournaments. Others are power conference teams with great resumes but subpar records. Still, others have much better-looking metrics but don’t have the big wins that some of these other schools have. Which of these factors will be most important to the Selection Committee this year?

We’ll be running through these schools, looking at 24 in total. A solid portion of these teams will be left at home next Sunday; which ones do you think will survive the bubble and who’s bubble is getting burst?
