NCAA Basketball: Buy or Sell Alabama, Gonzaga, and Kansas as title contenders?
By Bryan Mauro
It is the last week of NCAA Basketball championship week, and the last of the autobids are ready to be claimed by the last set of tournaments that just got underway. As teams put the finishing touches on their resume and some teams are putting the finishing touches on their season there is finally a clear picture as to what teams seem like the favorites to cut down the nets in Houston. In a week 68 teams will begin their quest but realistically there are only five teams who have a chance to win the National Title.
As fans, we have been waiting for this event all year and all our bracket challenges will see a host of potential winners. As mentioned, I do believe only five teams have a legitimate chance at winning the title this season and this article is going to highlight those five and give a rating of a buy or sell. A buy would be if I think that the team can win the National Title. A sell is a team who is going to get a lot of hype but will not cut down the nets in Houston. There will also be a in-depth write-up for each team outlining the reasons for or against the rating.
The bracket is not released yet so I do not know the seeds list. I am going to go buy what I believe will be the seed lists and It should come as no surprise that the teams mentioned are those who can legitimately win a National Championship. I do believe that anyone outside of these five teams is going to have an uphill climb to win the title. Keep in mind winning the National Championship is extremely hard to do but these teams are the ones who are going to be the favorites at the event next week.
There are some other teams to keep an eye on who is not going to be on this list like the UCLA Bruins, Arizona Wildcats, Purdue Boilermakers, and Texas Longhorns are all teams you may hear about over the next week as teams who can win it. I don’t think any of those teams have enough to win it and would all be “Sells”. The below five are the five who are going to be the overwhelming favorites to cut down the nets in Houston.
