The NCAA Basketball transfer portal is heating up, now that more teams are ending their respective seasons. While the portal doesn’t fully open up until Monday for everyone, graduate transfers who have immediate eligibility are able to announce their decisions to leave. And the biggest name yet has entered in Josh Cohen, the reigning Northeast Conference Player of the Year.

Cohen was the Most Improved Player in the league a year ago and continued that development for St. Francis (PA) this past season. He averaged a league-leading 21.8 ppg and 8.3 rpg, along with 2.5 apg. He was in double figures in every single game, including a career-high 40-point game in a loss to Lehigh and against Hawaii.

Despite not having much of a perimeter game and mainly operating in the post, Cohen has shown to be a quality scorer that needs to be doubled. His big performances in the non-conference is an indication that he can produce outside of the Northeast Conference, even if he doesn’t have a ton of usage rate.

The 6’10 and 220-pound forward from New Jersey is one of the best scorers among all mid-major players and after the Red Flash lost in the NEC Tournament, officially became a free agent.

Expect Cohen to get plenty of interest this offseason, from even the biggest of programs. And he’ll get the benefit from being one of the earlier names to enter the portal process. Here’s a look at eight teams that would be a nice fit for the grad transfer forward.
