How many Big East Basketball teams are in the 2023 NCAA Tournament?

Big East Basketball is one of the premier basketball conferences and they were at the forefront of most of the offseason news. It all started with Villanova losing legendary head coach Jay Wright to retirement. Then there was Creighton who had the whole country swooning over their roster that we all thought could make the final four.

The rest of the league wanted us to know that while we all got our share of preseason news topics. The season is what really matters and the Big East has some of the strongest teams in the country and is going to have five teams representing the league in the NCAA Tournament next week.

The five teams who will represent the Big East in the 2023 NCAA Tournament are:

Creighton Bluejays:  The Bluejays were an at-large selection and were selected as a 6 seed in the South region playing the 11-seed NC State Wolfpack.

Connecticut Huskies: UConn was an at-large selection and was selected as a 4 seed in the West region playing the 13 seed Iona Gaels.

Marquette Golden Eagles: The Big East Champs was an automatic bid for winning the league tournament. The Golden Eagles were awarded the 2 seed in the East region and will play the Vermont Catamounts.

Providence Friars: The Friars were an at-large selection and were selected as the 11 seed in the East region playing the 6-seed Kentucky Wildcats.

Xavier Musketeers- The Musketeers were an at-large selection and were selected as the 3 seed in the Midwest region playing the 14-seed Kennesaw State Owls.

Upon first look, every team outside of Providence has favorable matchups and Marquette and Xavier are set to make deep runs in the tournament it should surprise no one if they do make a deep run to the second weekend and beyond. The Big East typically has a good showing in the event and Creighton still has a team that can get to the final four if they are engaged and making shots. Enjoy the tournament Big East fans.
