By Joey Loose
These few days between Selection Sunday and the start of the NCAA Tournament are always filled with anticipation and excitement. After months of hard work, 68 teams head to various sites and begin a single-elimination tournament that is easily the best in all of the sporting world. There’s no bigger event than March Madness, even though only one team can cut down those nets in Houston and claim the national championship.
Part of the excitement of the NCAA Tournament is seeing what happens in these games, especially when buzzer-beaters, upsets, and breakout performances take place on a yearly basis. It would take a long time to cover even the most recent NCAA Tournament, especially with what we saw from Saint Peter’s and their magical run or that hot streak by a North Carolina team that missed the Big Dance completely this season.
This season, we have a brand new crop of teams and players ready for their March Madness moment. Some of them have certainly been here before, but the 2023 NCAA Tournament is a unique experience and we’re ready to see just what will unfold in the weeks to come. Will this be a relatively drama-free Tournament or are we heading toward a number of upsets. Which team will be the Cinderella?
The answers to these questions will be answered in the days to come, but we’re taking a deep dive into these teams and identifying the best players who are in the Tournament field. It’s an impossible task to undergo, but we’ve selected the Top 100 players and ranked them from top to bottom, giving a small profile at what they’ve done this season to deserve their spot.
Remember, we’re selecting great players from 68 colleges, so not every school is represented on this list, though that doesn’t necessarily mean that school or another player won’t surprise us in the upcoming Tournament. Let’s dive right into this marathon of players.
