The No. 1 overall seed in the tournament is set to take on the winner of one of the play-in games, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

For the first time in program history, Alabama is a No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Challenging the Crimson Tide in Round 1 will be Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, who won the first NCAA Tournament game in school history when they defeated Southeast Missouri in a play-in game.

The excitement of winning their first-ever tourney game may be dampened a bit by having to face an Alabama team who has seemed to be on a Final Four trajectory since the season began.

This will be Alabama’s 24th trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Crimson Tide made a deep run into the Sweet 16 in 2021. This is only the Islanders’ third trip to the Big Dance, having been eliminated in the first round in 2007 and 2022.

Texas A&M-CC vs. Alabama NCAA Tournament Round 1 odds

The Crimson Tide are not surprisingly a huge favorite in this game, with the current odds having Alabama as a 23.5 point favorite. The game has an over/under of 155.5, a -10,000 moneyline on Alabama, and a +2,400 moneyline on TAMU-CC.

History against the spread won’t mean much in this game, and it would be one of the most historic upsets in the history of the tournament should the Islanders figure out a way to beat the Tide. If you’ve got some money to burn, may as well throw it on that TAMU-CC moneyline and hope for a miracle.

Alabama likely covers the spread, but that could depend on how out of hand things get early and if Nate Oats decides to rest starters once the game is under control.

Texas A&M-CC vs. Alabama NCAA Tournament Round 1 prediction

This one will likely be a laugher and over before the first-half buzzer sounds. But, it’s March Madness and anything is possible (See: Saint Peter’s 85, Kentucky 79 (OT) – 2022 First Round).

Prediction: Alabama 89 – TAMU-CC 60
