The NCAA Tournament is down to just 16 teams after another thrilling first weekend. We’re already down several national title contenders, including 1 seeds Purdue and reigning champion Kansas, along with a 2 seed in Arizona.

Even though we have just one double-digit seed to get to this point, there are four teams with a 7 seed or lower left standing. There are some quality coaches and individual players left standing but overall, how do these teams stand out from each other?

Here’s a power ranking of the Sweet 16 programs in the NCAA Tournament.

16. Princeton Tigers – 23-8 (10-4 Ivy League)

Wins over Arizona and Missouri

For the third straight year, we have a 15 seed in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. This one comes from the Ivy League, with an elite defensive and offensive performance in the first week. The game was against 2-seed and national title contender, Arizona. It was a close call throughout but a late stretch of defensive stops allowed the Tigers to win, 59-55.

Tosan Evbuomwan was the lone double-digit scorer for them but he came through with 15 points. seven rebounds and four assists. They held the Wildcats to just three made three-pointers and seven shots from the charity stripe. Against Missouri, it was the offense that was the story for the Tigers of the Ivy.

Princeton jumped out to a double-digit lead early and was not only able to maintain it but also extended it to get the 78-63 win. Ryan Langborg had 22 points, while Blake Peters had 17 off the bench. Caden Pierce had a program-record 16 rebounds in the game as well. It was an offense that did so well, Missouri was forced to play zone for large portions of the game.

The Tigers look to continue their impressive run against Creighton, a team with an elite starting lineup and not too much depth. If Princeton can find a way to avoid getting killed inside, they have a shot at upset No. 3.
