Creighton Basketball: 3 keys to Bluejays beating Princeton in Sweet Sixteen
After underwhelming for the first part of the season, Creighton Basketball has put it all together at the perfect time, winning their first two NCAA Tournament games and advancing to the Sweet Sixteen.
Next on the agenda for Greg McDermott’s team is taking down one of the sweethearts of this year’s Big Dance: the No. 15 seed Princeton Tigers, who have already foiled Arizona and Missouri.
Considering how the Tigers have made mincemeat of strong foes in the past few days, Creighton would do best not to underestimate the Ivy League program. Princeton has the talent and coaching to keep its story going.
As the Creighton Bluejays prepare to take on the Princeton Tigers, what are three keys for the team to advance past the Sweet Sixteen?
Princeton is arguably playing with free money here. Nobody expected a No. 15 seed to topple a No. 2 seed in the First Round – even if it’s happening with increased regularity – and nobody expected that team to make it all the way to the Sweet Sixteen. It’s all gravy for them.
For Creighton, however, this is a big opportunity to keep pushing the program along to new heights. The Bluejays have only been to one Elite Eight in program history and it happened the same year as the attack on Pearl Harbor. The drought it more then 80 years long.
Creighton has a golden opportunity to break through – Princeton is less intimidating than Arizona. The Tigers are a threat, though.
Here are three keys for a Creighton victory in the Sweet Sixteen.
