Another number-one seed was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament when the Houston Cougars were upset by Miami, and Twitter predictably had a great time rubbing salt in the wound.

It finally happened, the Elite Eight will not feature a No. 1 seed.  It is the first time in the history of the NCAA tournament that all of the one seeds have been out of the tournament this early.

About a half hour after Alabama was upset by San Diego State the second No. 1 seed of the night went down.  Houston was dismantled by the Miami Hurricanes and naturally, there was a lot of reaction on the Twitterverse.

Let’s first start with the tweet about making NCAA Tournament history.

Twitter coming at the Houston Cougars after upset loss to Miami

There are always tweets from big-time hoops personalities about history being made tonight.

This loss stings for Houston, because not only will they not play in the final four in their home city, but they also will be joining the Big 12 so they will see an uptick in competition, and of course, there were some very hot takes about the move for the Cougars.

Houston fans were obviously not happy about that take and are going to defend their team.

I don’t disagree with the Houston fans.  Thinking that just because they move from the American Conference to the Big 12 does not mean they won’t be the favorite to win a title ever again. If anything this will only help the Cougars’ recruiting.

The reactions are expected with the way Houston played, they could not make threes and their defense was porous all night long.  It was shocking to watch that game and see the result given how solid Houston had been all year.

The Miami Hurricanes are responsible for all of that given how well they played and Miami made a ton of threes which put Houston into panic mode early.

Anytime your team loses there is always a period of mourning, but for some fans who have a little more than just an emotional investment in the game, the night went from bad to worse.

I hope Mack is okay given how much money he just lost.

Congratulations to Miami who made their second Elite Eight in as many seasons.  Enjoy the rest of the tournament.
