Princeton Basketball: 3 keys to beating Creighton in Sweet 16 matchup
Avoid turning over the rock
We have seen a plethora of games in this tournament that are full of runs and fastbreak points.
Princeton will have to be very careful with the ball to avoid Creighton jumping out to an early lead, and it all starts with limiting turnovers on both ends of the floor. The Bluejays rank 31st in the nation in the assist-to-turnover ratio with 1.36.
In both contests in the NCAA tournament, the Tigers did a great job at forcing turnovers and not committing too many mistakes, which allowed for close, competitive victories for the program.
This will be especially important for junior guard Matt Allocco, who turned over the ball five times in the recent win over Missouri. The Ohio native averaged 1.5 per game this season.
We can expect Coach Doug McDermott’s team to come out aggressively and look to take advantage of all of Princeton’s mistakes. The Tigers will have to come prepared if they want a shot at an Elite Eight appearance for the first time since 1965.
