The UCLA Bruins looked to have the Sweet 16 matchup with Gonzaga well in hand, and then two things happened to completely flip the script – and UCLA fans lost it.

UCLA came into the 2023 NCAA Tournament as a No. 2 seed and one of the clear favorites to possibly advance to the Final Four. They were far and away the best team in the Pac-12 and were set for another epic clash with Gonzaga when the Sweet 16 rolled around.

Everything seemed to be going the Bruins’ way as they went on a 13-2 run that gave UCLA a 13-point lead at the half.

13 points. Remember that number. Because the biggest comeback Gonzaga had prior to this game was 12 points. Seemed like UCLA could pencil in the win, right?

Wrong.

What happened? Gonzaga’s Drew Timme, and UCLA’s ice-cold second half shooting.

The Bruins surrendered that 13-point lead and then some, with Gonzaga going up by as much as 10 points at one point in the second half. The Bruins fought back, but fell short, ending the hopes of UCLA fans once again…and they let their feelings show on Twitter, as did the rest of the college hoops nation.

Twitter reacts to UCLA blowing huge lead and losing to Gonzga…again.

We open with…the obvious.

Smear some meme into the wound…

And the fans? Well, let’s just say there will probably be some Bruins supporters shopping for new TVs this weekend

Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt…

Here come the “our coach sucks” contingent…

Aaaand blame the refs….

And then we have acceptance at its most basic form

In all truth, it was one of the best games of the tournament against two teams who have given us classic March Madness moments in recent years.

Don’t take it too hard, UCLA fans. Just remember, Shawn Michaels did eventually beat The Undertaker later in his career.
