It was a rough day for the Virginia Cavaliers when it comes to the NCAA Basketball transfer portal. They lost two frontcourt players, with one being freshman forward Isaac Traudt. The other was a more impact player in Kadin Shedrick, a former four-star prospect that redshirted in his first year.

He’s played three years since, including starting 34 games in the past couple of seasons. Shedrick is a 6’11 and 210 pound big man that is one of the top interior defenders in all of NCAA Basketball. He had six blocks in a game against Clemson as a sophomore and has done well against all kinds of frontcourt players.

Shedrick doesn’t have a ton of offense, with a 6.5 ppg average in the past couple of years. But every so often, he’ll give you double-digit scoring efforts. Ultimately, his bread and butter comes from his defense, which will make him a very coveted player in the transfer portal.

From an outside perspective, it’s not a big surprise that Shedrick left Virginia. His playing time was too insconsistent and actually had six games where he played fewer than 10 minutes in a game. The team opted for a better offensive lineup, which was at the expense at Shedrick.

Now in the portal, look for plenty of teams to be in the mix for the Raleigh, North Carolina native. NC State likely won’t be in the mix, assuming both of their big men come back. But there will be plenty of others. Check out who should be interested.
