Florida Gators

Coach Todd already had an A-10 transfer point guard last season in Kyle Lofton. That experiment didn’t work out as well but a case can be made that Baldwin’s skillset better translates to the SEC level. With both he and Trey Bonham gone, the team will need to find a couple of ball-handlers this offseason.

Florida is a spot where Baldwin can not only get major minutes at a power conference program but also have more of a scoring role in what should be a faster-paced offense. With Colin Castleton gone, the Gators don’t have a clear go-to scorer and Baldwin could repeat what he did at VCU and lead them in scoring.

Gonzaga Bulldogs

The Bulldogs’ backcourt was a major weakness in the most recent NCAA Tournament. Starting point guard, Nolan Hickman, was particularly bad, scoring 0 points in each of the last two games. With Rasir Bolton and Malachi Smith also moving on, there’s going to be a clear need for more guards this offseason.

Gonzaga also could use Baldwin’s defense, which was an overall weak spot. The VCU transfer could easily shore that up while also playing in one of the faster-paced offenses in all of NCAA Basketball. Plus, Coach Mark Few has a history of playing two point guards so a Hickman/Baldwin backcourt could certainly work out well.
