18. Lawson Lovering – Colorado to Utah
2022-23 stats: 4.9 ppg and 4.7 rpg
The 7’0 big man from Wyoming started all 34 games for the Buffaloes, averaging around 23 mpg. He had just three double-digit scoring outings on the season but his best was saved for last, producing 21 points and seven rebounds in 31 minutes in a loss to Utah Valley.
It’s an interesting choice as he isn’t guaranteed to start with the Utes. It’ll depend on what happens with leading scorer and 7’0 big man, Branden Carlson, who is in the NBA Draft process but left open the option to return. If he leaves, then Lovering will be the next starting center.
17. KyeRon Lindsay – Georgia to Texas Tech
2022-23 stats (10 games): 6.2 ppg and 5.2 rpg
The former four-star prospect lasted just 10 games as a freshman at Georgia before leaving. Lindsay showed promise during that time, including 10 points against Wake Forest and 14 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Miami (OH). At 6’7, he’s a great athlete and over time should develop into an impactful player.
He was supposed to go play for Coach Mark Adams but after a reported incident is out at Texas Tech. North Texas HC Grant McCasland is the rumored favorite to take over and it remains to be seen whether that’s a positive of negative for Lindsay. But with Kevin Obannor moving on and Robert Jennings already in the transfer portal himself, the power forward position is wide open for Lindsay, for now.
