Lamont Butler sent the San Diego State Aztecs to the national title game in dramatic fashion on an incredible buzzer-beater. Twitter reacted accordingly!
The Final Four is off to an incredible start, as San Diego State came back from a 14-point second-half deficit to tear Florida Atlantic’s heart out on a Lamont Butler buzzer-beater that conjured up memories of Jalen Suggs and Kris Jenkins. It was a cumulation of many things that went in their favor in the final minute. Twitter, of course, was the place to be for the best reactions to this legendary ending.

There wouldn’t be the joy of victory without the agony of defeat, and Owl fans predictably took this one really hard.
Lamont Butler just became a March Madness legend!

San Diego State to Monday night.
Butler's game-winning buzzer-beater is the first in Final Four history in which the team was trailing before the shot. https://t.co/HDcKBHBf03

Incredible that in the entire history of the tournament, Butler is the first to hit a buzzer beater with his team trailing. Interestingly, the biggest near-miss buzzer beater while trailing also belonged to a Butler, except this was Butler University, when Gordon Hayward’s halfcourt heave to beat Duke in 2010 missed by an inch.

When the team that’s playing next can’t believe what just happened, you know you just made history.
Amazing, no notes.

Sometimes it just means more.
Did San Diego State save any magic for Monday night? This tournament has taught us that anything is possible. They take on the winner of Miami and UConn on Monday. With players like Lamont Butler around, the Aztecs will have a shot at pulling off the victory and a national championship.
