It’s the rare Women’s NCAA Tournament title game that doesn’t feature a 1 seed, as Kim Mulkey and LSU take on Caitlin Clark and Iowa.

TV schedule: Sunday, April 2nd, 3:30 pm ET. ABC

Arena: American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas

The Final Four of the 2023 Women’s NCAA Tournament featured one unbeaten team in South Carolina, taking on the National Player of the Year, Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes (31-6). The Gamecocks were a double-digit favorite entering the game but the Big Ten program put them on their toes with a 9-point first-quarter lead.

South Carolina, thanks to a tremendous rebounding advantage, was able to keep the game close and even took the lead in the fourth quarter. However, it was a historic performance from Clark, who dominated the game from start to finish to lead Iowa to the 77-73 upset victory. Clark became the first woman to score back-to-back 40-point games, going for 41 points, six rebounds, and eight assists.

Iowa makes its first-ever national title game appearance, taking on the LSU Tigers (33-2). LSU also is in its first title game, beating 1 seed Virginia Tech, 79-72. It was a game of runs, as the Tigers had an early lead before a 20-2 run by the Hokies gave them a 9-point second-half lead. In the end, the SEC program dominated the 4th quarter, outscoring Tech, 29-13.

Alexis Morris led all scorers with 27 points, while Angel Reese finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds. In the second year of the Kim Mulkey era at LSU, they’re just one win away from a national title.

Here’s a look at both sides and how they got here, before picking a winner on Sunday’s matchup.
