Duke Blue Devils

The Blue Devils have several decisions to wait on when it comes to the NBA Draft. They know Dariq Whitehead is leaving, while Tyrese Proctor and Mark Mitchell are coming back. Two frontcourt moves have to be made in leading scorer Kyle Filipowski and freshman center Dereck Lively.

What happens with Lively will ultimately determine whether or not Duke is viable in the Hunter Dickinson sweepstakes. He showed flashes of being a future star at the pro level but is still raw overall. He’s a projected top-40 pick so there’s a real chance he could enter and stay.

If that happens, expect Duke to be in the market for a center. Filipowski is more of a power forward and is a bit too fitness to play at the five-spot. Dickinson would work there and be the latest in a long line of quality centers that the offense can run through.

This will also be a bit of a theme throughout this piece for Dickinson; he likes being a villain in NCAA Basketball. There truly is no better destination for him than the Blue Devils. He’d be a top national storyline for the entire 2023-24 season and have the attention, mostly negative outside of Durham. Though I don’t think he’d mind it.
