After another Rhode Island Basketball player hit the transfer portal, the Rams responded with a big splash in the High Point transfer Jaden House commitment.

Rhode Island Basketball fans gained the news on Thursday that freshman guard Louis Hutchinson would be entering his name into the transfer portal; less than 24 hours later, the Rams improved their backcourt with the addition of Jaden House.

The URI roster, at the moment, is primarily made up of forwards and bigs after their most recent pickup of JUCO transfer Tyson Brown. The Florida Southwestern transfer joins a frontcourt consisting of Alex Tchikou, Jeremy Foumena, Josaphat Bilau, and Rory Stewart.

For guards, Rhode Island looks to retain senior Jalen Carey, redshirt sophomore Brandon Weston, and freshman recruits Connor Dubsky and Cam Estevez. Jaden House is a massive boost to this core, with the Rams losing Ishmael Leggett, Brayon Freeman, Sebastian Thomas, and Louis Hutchinson.

House is a junior transfer from High Point University who hails from Richmond, Virginia. The 6-foot-3 guard will be a senior this Fall and has two years of eligibility remaining for Rhode Island.

This past season, he averaged 17.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while shooting 43.2 percent from the field and 30.1 percent from behind the arc. House also earned a Big South honorable mention with the Panthers.

He received offers from Butler, Clemson, Temple, George Washington, and many other schools; however, the guard chose the University of Rhode Island. Jaden announced his commitment to the program on his personal Twitter account on Friday afternoon, lead recruiter Kenny Johnson’s birthday.

“A competitor, I will do whatever it takes to win, I can score – I am just trying to win,” House said on what he is looking to bring to Kingston next season.

The Rams’ priority this offseason is to attack the transfer portal and build a strong class around their core remaining in Keaney blue. Rhode Island has already been in contact with Temple guard Khalif Battle, Towson guard Nick Timberlake, Bryant transfer Charles Pride, and several others.

The program should have Rhode Island natives Tedrick Wilcox Jr, St Francis Brooklyn guard, and Colgate forward Keegan Records on their radar.
