There are several high-scoring guards in NCAA Basketball, with the leading scorer this season being Antoine Davis. He was just three points shy of the all-time scoring record in the sport. With the covid year coming out the window, that record likely won’t be broken anytime soon. But there is one that has the chance to crack the top-10 list, Max Abmas of Oral Roberts.

In four seasons, Abmas has a career scoring average of 20.8 ppg and 3.2 apg. That includes a career-high of 24.5 ppg as a sophomore, the same year that he led the Golden Eagles to the NCAA Tournament. The team was a Cinderella that year, making the Sweet 16 as a 15 seed.

Abmas led Oral Roberts with 21.9 ppg this past season, as the team went unbeaten in the Summit League en route to another NCAA Tournament appearance before losing to Duke in the first round. The 6’1 scoring guard averages around 9 three-point attempts a game at around 40% and had a number of 30+ point efforts.

Abmas had two 40+ point games as a sophomore, including a career-high 42 points against South Dakota State. He’s shown the ability to score against both mid and high-majors, including 20 points against Oklahoma and 28 versus Wichita State as a sophomore.

After four seasons at Oral Roberts, Abmas has chosen to enter the transfer portal as a marquee name. He’s likely to get attention from just about everyone that needs a guard, which is all 361 D-I NCAA Basketball programs.

But who are truly the best fits? Here are 10 programs that came to mind first that you should keep an eye on going forward.
