The Wildcats had one of the best backcourts in all of NCAA Basketball but it was the backcourt that was their undoing this past season. The inconsistencies, led by Kerr Kriisa and Courtney Ramey, were crucial in the loss to Princeton in the NCAA Tournament Round of 64.

Those two are gone, leaving the program with Pelle Larsson and freshman Kylan Boswell. That’s a solid core but they could use another talented guard for the program, one that can score a bunch. Pairing Abmas with the likes of Oumar Ball and Azuolas Tubelis would be incredibly difficult to guard next season.

Arkansas Razorbacks

The backcourt play was a struggle at times, as they never got Nick Smith in a rhythm due to his injuries. He’s gone, with freshman Anthony Black also likely to enter the NBA Draft. Davonte Davis is in the draft process as well, while leading scorer Ricky Council could leave too.

But the reality is that no matter who stays, Coach Eric Musselman will always see what’s in the portal. After the rough experiment with the freshman guards, going with a 5th-year senior like Abmas would be a drastic difference, one that could play a huge role in getting Arkansas back to the top of the ladder.
