10. Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech made a coaching change this offseason, parting ways with Josh Pastner after back-to-back losing seasons.
Damon Stoudamire is Georgia Tech’s new head coach after a stint as an assistant with the Boston Celtics. Previously, he was lauded for the job he did in a difficult situation as Pacific’s head coach.
Already, Stoudamire has addressed an issue that has plagued the Yellow Jackets for the last two seasons – a lack of size. NC State transfer Ebenezer Dowuona will give GT a 6-foot-11 rim protector and rebounder. Stoudamire has also been active in recruiting Pitt transfer John Hugley IV, who averaged 14.8 points and 7.9 boards in his last full season with the Panthers.
Stoudamire can retain three of Georgia Tech’s top-four scorers, led by Miles Kelly. Kelly took full advantage of increased minutes as a sophomore, averaging 14.4 points per game.
If Stoudamire can convince Pastner’s guys to stick around, GT will have a respectable crew of guards and wings. If he can add Hugley to the mix, Georgia Tech should be a top-10 team in the ACC.
