NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Evaluating top 5 for Wofford transfer BJ Mack
By Joey Loose
Arkansas
The Razorbacks are in complete flux, with Eric Musselman seemingly rebuilding this roster on a yearly basis. Top-level freshman talent meshed well with transfers last season, with the Razorbacks making it to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament again; could Mack be the first big piece to rebuilding for 2024?
Trevon Brazile returns after missing a big part of the year with injury, while a number of other question marks plague Arkansas’s frontcourt. Will talented freshman Jordan Walsh spend another year in college, and what does the future hold for twins Makhi and Makhel Mitchell? Musselman is being proactive and he knows that Mack is a scoring talent, and a big piece that the Razorbacks honestly could’ve used these last few months.
Iowa
While the Hawkeyes may seem a little out there as a destination for Mack, their system and their consistency are certainly attractive qualities for this talented forward. There’s also the fact that Fran McCaffery’s team is losing a significant part of their frontcourt talent, with Filip Rebraca out of eligibility after two years as a starting forward.
Additionally, the Hawkeyes will likely lose star forward Kris Murray, and Mack’s addition would help offset some of the major change for next season. Iowa isn’t expecting Mack to come in and replicate their exact production, but he’d be a significant scorer and rebounder. He’d be an intriguing weapon in the Big Ten, especially if he can work on his outside shot even more this season.
