NCAA Basketball: Top 20 pending “covid year” player decisions to watch
6. Darrion Trammell – San Diego State Aztecs
2022-23 season stats: 9.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.9 apg
The scoring production for Trammell was cut in half this season compared to his two years at Seattle U but he clearly made the right decision, making it all the way to the national title game. The guard came through when needed at times, scoring 21 points on four different occasions. One of them came against Alabama in the NCAA Tournament upset victory.
San Diego State is set to lose plenty of seniors, including leading scorer Matt Bradley. If Trammell were to come back for another year, he’d become the lead guard on offense. Otherwise, the Aztecs will need to find some more scoring via the portal.
5. Dylan Disu – Texas Longhorns
2022-23 season stats: 8.8 ppg and 4.4 rpg
The forward started all 36 games but was limited with playing time, just under 20 mpg. Yet Disu’s role changed for the better in March, including some big games in the NCAA Tournament before suffering an injury. He had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the 1st round win over Colgate, before going for a season-high 28 points on 14/20 shooting to beat Northwestern in the Round of 32.
Texas does have five-star forward Ron Holland coming in but with both Timmy Allen and Christian Bishop leaving, they’ll need Disu to be the one that comes back. He earned a larger role going forward and it’ll be interesting to see his production if Disu gets around 25-30 mpg as a 5th-year senior.
