The NCAA Basketball transfer portal was already filled with talented guards just a week into the offseason. Yet the biggest name of the group may have entered in Ryan Nembhard, the younger brother of current Indiana Pacers guard Ryan Nembhard.
The former four-star prospect joined a rebuilding Creighton roster and started immediately as a freshman. He averaged 11.3 ppg and 4.4 apg in his first year and won Big East Rookie of the Year. He, along with others in the freshmen class opted to return, giving the Bluejays a preseason top-10 ranking.
Despite the 6-game losing skid, Nembhard and Creighton were successful overall. They made a run in the NCAA Tournament and lost a close game in the Elite 8 to San Diego State. One of those wins in the run came against Baylor, where the point guard went for a career-high 30 points. He also had a pair of double-digit passing games and improved his shooting numbers as a sophomore, making 36% of his three-point shots while averaging 12.1 ppg and 4.8 apg overall.
After the season, Nembhard made a big decision by entering the transfer portal, instantly being one of the top NCAA Basketball players available. He has two years left of eligibility as well, something for teams to consider since he isn’t a clear-cut NBA Draft prospect.
There will be a ton of teams that would like to have Nembhard’s services but there are only a few that makes any real sense unless a huge bag comes along. Here’s a look at the four teams that could be in the mix to land the former Bluejay.
