NCAA Basketball Recruiting: 4 teams that should target Creighton transfer Ryan Nembhard
Arizona Wildcats
Coach Tommy Lloyd was the top recruiter for Ryan’s brother when he was at Gonzaga and would be the top guy in charge this time around. At Arizona, he has a compelling offer to run the offense of a program that won 59 games in the past two seasons. And with Kerr Kriisa off to Arizona, Nembhard would be able to slide in as the new starting point guard.
Assuming that both Oumar Ballo and Azuolas Tubelis are back, that would be an even better frontcourt than the one the guard had a Creighton this past season. It’s hard to envision that Nembhard could go to an even better option after leaving the Bluejays but the Wildcats could make a strong case for just that.
Baylor Bears
The Bears had a trio of 15 ppg scoring guards this past season but assuming that Adam Flagler doesn’t come back for an extra year, will lose all three. That would open up the backcourt for Nembhard to come right in and be the lead guard. He’d also have the chance to be more of a pure scorer than just a facilitator since the frontcourt for Baylor doesn’t have much offense.
After seeing what Nembhard did to them live, I could see the Baylor coaching staff being interested here. Coach Scott Drew does have a national championship on his resume and the Bears have become a top-10 program. That’s a major selling point for both this and other players out there in the portal.
