There are plenty of quality scorers in the NCAA Basketball transfer portal this offseason, including a few that averaged at least 20 ppg. One of them is Josh Cohen, who averaged over 22 ppg and has officially gone from St. Francis (PA) to UMass this one. Another that has updated their respective recruitment is Denver Jones, who was second in Conference USA this past season at 20.1 ppg.
That was his team at Florida International. The team wasn’t great (14-18 overall) but Jones did his part to keep the Panthers in games. The 6’4 sophomore took over the offense after Tevin Brewer left the year prior and exploded early gone, scoring 20+ points in 3 of the first 5 games. He also shot 48% from the field, 37% from three-point range, and 85% from the free throw line.
On the season, Jones had 20+ points on 17 different occasions. And one was a 30-point game in the regular-season finale win at Rice on 9/18 shooting. He was a consistent producer as well, scoring in double figures in 26 of the 28 games.
Jones opted to enter the transfer portal starting this offseason and become one of the biggest names out there. His recruitment took another step this week, with a list of six teams now officially in the mix. He’s from the state of Alabama and has a couple of local options in the mix.
But which of them makes the most sense for Jones? Here’s a power ranking of all the options in terms of potential fits.
