NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Ranking top 4 teams for Houston transfer Tramon Mark
The Houston Cougars had one of the best backcourts in all of NCAA Basketball this past season, led by a trio of veteran guards. Marcus Sasser was the leading scorer that got all of the attention, while Jamal Shead was the point guard and facilitator. The 3rd guy that flies under the radar is Tramon Mark, who missed most of the previous season with an injury but was healthy this time around.
Mark started all 37 games for the Cougars, one of five double-digit scorers on the roster. He averaged 10.1 ppg, 4.9 rpg, and 1.8 apg. The 6’5 guard shot 39% from the field and 33% from three-point range. His scoring production was inconsistent as a 3rd or 4th option on offense but Mark still managed to have his share of big outings.
Mark went for 20+ points three different times, including 26 points and nine rebounds on 9/17 shooting in the Round of 32 victory over Auburn. He’s not a prolific shooter from deep but can get to the basket well and creates his own offense well.
All three guards could be going their separate ways, with Sasser going to the NBA Draft, along with Shead (not fully gone). But Mark, who has 1-2 years depending on a potential medical waiver, has opted to go into the portal, likely in hopes of a new role.
The process has gone to the step of having a group of finalists, with four teams now in the mix. Which of them makes the most sense? Here’s a power ranking of the options for Mark in terms of best potential fit.
