7. NC State Wolfpack

Unlike the Tar Heels, the Wolfpack did find a way to make the NCAA Tournament, effectively saving Coach Kevin Keatts from the hot seat. But the team still underachieved a bit, despite the elite guard play of both Terquavion Smith and Jarkel Joiner. Both of them are now gone, along with wings Jack Clark and Greg Gnatt.

Right now, there are zero confirmed players back for this season from the main rotation. There are three players that have decisions to make regarding extra years, including guard Casey Morsell and bigs, D.J. Burns and Dusan Mahorcic. There’s a chance that the team will have to rebuild all over.

This is an opportunity for NC State. There are several players in the portal from the local area that they can get and with both UNC and Wake Forest coming off of no postseasons, they can make an appeal to land some of them. They’ll need to in order to compete in the ACC once again.

If the Wolfpack aren’t good enough to get back into NCAA Tournament contention in 2024, Coach Keatts could get back on the hot seat. The pickups of Joiner and Burns proved to be masterful; can the program do it again this offseason?
