There are a ton of quality starting-caliber centers in the NCAA Basketball transfer portal this offseason. Both of whom are either elite offensive or defensive players. One that fits in the defensive category is Kadin Shedrick, who averaged 6.2 ppg and 3.8 rpg this past season for the Virginia Cavaliers.
The 6’11 center has 34 career starts in 76 games in three years, including redshirting in 2019-20. So Shedrick has two years left of eligibility if he so chooses. After entering the transfer portal, the veteran big man got plenty of interest.
His recruitment has been heating up, with now a list of power conference programs fully in the mix. Which of these teams makes the most sense for Shedrick? Here’s a look at which are the best fits.
5. Texas Longhorns
The frontcourt situation is interesting for the Longhorns and full-time head coach Rodney Terry. They’re set to lose Christian Bishop and Timmy Allen while having to wait on Dylan Disu. The big man had a breakout NCAA Tournament run and does have an extra year left but he could very well go pro.
There’s also five-star incoming freshman Ron Holland, whose set to get some minutes as well. Shedrick fits what they want to do at the five-spot so it makes sense but he could be in the same situation as he was at Virginia, having to come off the bench.
