NCAA Basketball: 10 teams that should target former Duke commit Mackenzie Mgbako
Alabama Crimson Tide
The Tide is consistently one of the best offenses in NCAA Basketball and will be losing a ton of scoring at the forward positions. Star freshman Brandon Miller is off to the NBA Draft, while both Noah Gurley and Noah Clowney are gone as well. That leaves backup forward Nick Pringle as the current projected starter, joined by an incoming four-star freshman, Sam Walters.
Right now, there’s plenty of open room for someone like Mgbako to come in and have a big role in the offense. Alabama would be a top-10 caliber team with the five-star freshman and who knows, maybe he can repeat Miller’s performance this past season and see his own draft stock rise.
Houston Cougars
As expected, former five-star freshman forward Jarace Walker is off to the NBA Draft as a projected lottery pick. He’s the first one that Coach Kelvin Sampson was able to land and it worked out great for both sides. The team doesn’t have a proven forward on the roster, mainly just incoming freshman Joseph Tugler.
Houston already has a couple of big pickups on the perimeter in LJ Cryer and Damian Dunn. They’ll be a very good team as they head to the Big 12 but more frontcourt depth will be needed to make a full transition. Adding someone with star potential like Mgbako would help with that.
