Rutgers Scarlet Knights

There’s a lot of talk about how good the 2023-24 season could be for Rutgers, once five-star commit Ace Bailey joins. But next season could be fairly good too. They only officially lose Caleb McConnell, while both Paul Mulcahy and Cam Spencer could come back for one more year.

Big man Clifford Omoruyi will be back and the Knights have the chance to replace Aundre Hyatt with the first-ever five-star player to play for the Big Ten program. As a New Jersey native, Mgbako could have a really big role and stay close to home.

St. John’s Red Storm

The Red Storm made a big move in landing Hall of Famer Rick Pitino from Iona this offseason. But that has caused a huge roster shakeup, with everyone from the rotation other than Joel Soriano entering the transfer portal. They have a ton of open roster spots available and for Mgbako, plenty of playing time too.

Being able to play for an NCAA Basketball Hall of Famer can’t be said for many players and Coach Pitino’s first season will be a major national storyline. It would be a benefit for Mgbako to play for St. John’s for a number of reasons, both on the court and via exposure.
