Ryan Nembhard – Creighton Bluejays
2022-23 season stats: 12.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 4.8 apg
A case can be made that the former Creighton point guard is the best available from the entire transfer portal. Nembhard started all 64 games and was the former Big East Rookie of the Year and is the younger brother of former Gonzaga Basketball star, Andrew Nembhard.
Coming off a 30-point performance in the NCAA Tournament against Baylor, the younger Nembhard’s stock is extremely high. Once he hit the portal, two teams clearly came to mind in Gonzaga and Arizona. The Wildcats’ head coach Tommy Lloyd was one of the lead recruiters for Andrew so it makes sense that they’d be involved.
And with Kerr Kriisa off to West Virginia, Nembhard could simply come in and run the offense on his own. The Bulldogs still have Nolan Hickman on its roster and even though Azuolas Tubelis going pro, the Wildcats may have a more appealing roster to play for instead of Gonzaga.
Ultimately, the familiarity the family has with the program could be the biggest selling point for Nembhard and the success that Andrew had also plays into their favor. With visits at both places reportedly happening this weekend, look for a conclusion with the youngest Nembhard soon.
