It was a rough past season for Michigan Basketball, despite having a ton of potential on its roster. They finished 18-16 overall and missed out on the NCAA Tournament, landing in the NIT. After losing to Vanderbilt in yet another late-game collapse, changes needed to be made.
The Wolverines lost both Jett Howard and Kobe Bufkin to the NBA Draft, two of the team’s three double-digit scorers on the roster. Making matters worse, they also lost their star big man to the transfer portal. Hunter Dickinson has been an All-Big Ten performer for the past two years and has led them in both scoring and rebounding.
His departure created a bare roster that was just Dug McDaniel and some role players. Of all the Big Ten teams, no program had more offseason work to do than Michigan Basketball. The good news is that they’ve already been able to land a couple of players out of the portal, including arguably the biggest name of the group in Caleb Love.
The Wolverines are far from done as well, as they’re in the mix reportedly for a couple of other targets. Both of them are power conference players and would definitely start if they were to land them. Plus, there are rumors that things aren’t done yet with a former player either.
This is a look at both what Michigan has done in the transfer portal, as well as what they have going on reportedly too.
