8. Ben Krikke – Valpo to Iowa
2022-23 season stats: 19.4 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.1 apg
The 6’9 forward has 122 career games (90 starts) in four seasons with the Beacons and posted career-high numbers this year. He had 14 games with at least 20 points, including 34 points and 10 rebounds at UIC. Krikke also went for 30 points, nine rebounds, and four assists against Evansville as well.
Iowa is desperate for frontcourt talent in the portal as they lost both Kris Murray and Filip Rebrača. The duo combined for 34 ppg last season and the Hawkeyes’ offense is one of the friendlier ones in NCAA Basketball. They’ll need Krikke to have an immediate impact in order to compete in the Big Ten.
7. Kel’el Ware – Oregon to Indiana
2022-23 season stats: 6.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.3 bpg
The former five-star prospect had flashes as a freshman this past season but was mostly disappointing as a backup. But during the PK85 Tournament, Ware had some huge games. He went for 17 points and nine rebounds against Michigan State and 18 points and nine rebounds versus UConn and its frontcourt. He has potential as a dynamic two-way frontcourt player but the motor needs work.
Coach Mike Woodson is hoping to take Ware and make him a breakout star, having him replace Trayce Jackson-Davis as the focal point in the frontcourt. He should be a good offensive fit alongside Malik Reneau, and could even play with Ball State transfer pickup. Payton Sparks.
