We’re 20 days into the NCAA Basketball offseason and there have already been fireworks when it comes to player decisions. Whether it’s for the NBA Draft, transfer portal, or regarding the high school prospects, the impact of all 363 D-I basketball teams has been clear.

There are plenty of programs that have already done great when it comes to roster building. But whether via luck or other reasons, there are some teams that aren’t doing well. Obviously, there’s plenty of time in this offseason to rebound but right now, here are eight teams that have a lot of work to do this offseason (in alphabetical order).

1. Michigan Wolverines

The Wolverines didn’t even make the NCAA Tournament this past season and once again, took hits via the NBA Draft. Jett Howard and Kobe Bufkin, two double-digit scoring starters, both entered the draft with intentions to stay. That was somewhat expected but what wasn’t was the departure of Hunter Dickinson.

He was one of the best players in NCAA Basketball, averaging 18.5 ppg and 9.0 rpg this past season. The All-American big man entering the portal is a loss that Michigan can’t afford and making matters worse, Papa Kante, the top-75 frontcourt commit, has parted ways with the program as well.

The team has added three players this offseason. One is forward Tray Jackson, who averaged 6.5 ppg at Seton Hall, along with former Alabama guard Nimari Burnett, who may not even be eligible next season. Michigan did get Caleb Love but he’s viewed as a big reason why UNC underachieved this past season. So right now, this team has gotten worse than they started out this offseason.
