6. Seton Hall Pirates

The first year of the Coach Shaheen Holloway era was mediocre, going 17-16 overall and 10-10 in Big East play. The conference going forward is only going to get tougher, as both Georgetown and St. John’s made big-time head coaching hires.

Seton Hall’s roster has gotten worse so far this offseason, not better. They lost basically its entire frontcourt, as KC Ndefo has moved on, while both Tyrese Samuel and Tray Jackson transferred out. Also in the portal is Femi Odukale, who started 31 games in the backcourt this past season.

So far, the Pirates have Al-Amir Dawes back for a 5th year, along with Kadary Richmond. Outside of them and Dre Davis, there’s nothing else for this roster. They were reportedly in the mix with North Texas transfer forward Abou Ousmane but he recently picked Xavier instead.

Seton Hall hasn’t landed anyone so far and they’re one of the few teams in the Big East that needed to. You don’t want to sour on Coach Holloway just yet but it appears that the juice from Saint Peter’s Elite 8 run not too long ago has worn out a bit to this point. Let’s see what he and the team can do in the next month but out of all the Big East schools with reasonable expectations, they’re in the most trouble at the moment.
