NCAA Basketball: Hunter Dickinson, Graham Ike among top frontcourt transfers
2. Moussa Cisse – Oklahoma State Cowboys
2022-23 season stats: 6.8 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 1.9 bpg
Cisse isn’t much of a scorer but where he shines is on the defensive end. After winning AAC Rookie of the Year at Memphis, the former five-star prospect went to OK State where he not only made multiple all-defensive teams but also won Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2022. His best game is arguably the 14-point, 14-rebound, and 6-block game against UCF.
Cisse is the best interior defender in the transfer portal and those kinds of players have been winning. Memphis has been a rumored landing spot for a potential reunion but what’s stopping his recruitment from being a national conversation is that he very well may have to sit out next season as a two-time transfer. It’s something to monitor with Cisse because when on the court, the team that has him becomes elite on defense.
1. Hunter Dickinson – Michigan Wolverines
2022-23 season stats: 18.5 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 1.5 apg
Not only is the former All-American the best big man in the NCAA Basketball transfer portal but Dickinson is the best player overall, regardless of position. He’s a proven 20 ppg scorer that has led Michigan to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and has a few 30+ point games in his career. One of them includes a 32-point and 12-rebound effort against Maryland.
Speaking of Maryland, they’re one of the few programs that are in contention to land Dickinson. The others reportedly are Georgetown, Villanova, Kansas, and even a return to Michigan isn’t out of the question. His recruitment is the most important to watch because his decision could singlehandedly turn one of those programs into a national contender for 2023-24.
