4. Texas Tech Red Raiders
It’s not a surprise at all that Perry could follow his head coach Grant McCasland over to Texas Tech and not make much of a move at all. With DeVion Harmon out, the former North Texas star can have a big role next to freshman starter Pop Isaacs. And the familiarity aspect of being with his coach should be fairly appealing.
The reason why I don’t buy the Red Raiders as a great option is that they have little currently on the roster. The new staff has come in late and all of the other good players on the roster transferred out. Of the four teams listed, this is the worst on paper and it’s hard to envision a senior wanting to use his final year on a rebuilding program.
3. Ole Miss Rebels
New head coach Chris Beard will be a controversial figure going forward after what happened this past season off the court. Still, he’s a big name in the NCAA Basketball world and will land some big transfers. One already is Brandon Murray from Georgetown, though he could sit out a season.
With Daeshun Ruffin transferred out, Ole Miss is wide open for someone like Perry to join and have the lead guard role. The problem is that unless the team lands several other key pieces, they aren’t going to be a clear NCAA Tournament team. And in his final year, is that what he ultimately wants?
