Kentucky Wildcats

It’s already been a wild offseason for Kentucky at the center position. First, freshman big man Ugonna Onyenso originally had entered the transfer portal, before coming back to the program a couple of weeks later. Now, they have to deal with star big man and former NCAA Basketball Player of the Year Oscar Tshiebwe, who is currently in the NBA Draft process.

Looks like the Wildcats aren’t waiting on his future decision, as they’re now firmly in play for Dickinson. And a case can be made that with this roster, the Michigan transfer would be the better fit compared to Tshibwe. Neither player are quality defenders, especially on the pick-and-roll. But Dickinson is a much better offensive weapon, especially in the half-court.

Kentucky has another young roster, led by five top-30 prospects. Two of them are five-star guards in DJ Wagner and Robert Dillingham, along with 7’0 big man Aaron Bradshaw. While it may be clunky when he’s at the four-spot, Dickinson is arguably a better fit alongside him.

No matter how good or bad they are, Kentucky is always a major storyline in NCAA Basketball. And that’ll be the case if they land Dickinson. With him on the roster, the Wildcats would be a preseason top-5 team and a genuine national title contender, while having as much attention as possible in 2024.
