NCAA Basketball: Analyzing the 6 teams in play for Michigan transfer Hunter Dickinson
Villanova Wildcats
A team that has been lurking in the shadows is Villanova, who is looking to bounce back after missing the NCAA Tournament in the first year after the Jay Wright era. They’re a team that doesn’t have guard Caleb Daniels back or future NBA Draft pick Cam Whitmore but it’s a roster that has plenty of talent.
The Wildcats are bringing back star guard Justin Moore, who should be fully healthy to begin next season. They also landed 16 ppg scoring guard TJ Bamba from Washington State and as of this writing are the heavy favorites to land Maryland’s double-digit guard transfer, Hakim Hart.
The only question when it comes to the roster is whether big man Eric Dixon comes back for an extra year. It wouldn’t affect Dickinson since Dixon is capable of playing at the four-spot if needed. The biggest question overall here may be on the sidelines, as Coach Kyle Neptune struggled in year 1 this past season and is the worst of all the head coaches in this recruitment.
Still, this might be the best overall supporting cast for Dickinson on the perimeter when it comes to experienced guard play. That’s what he was missing at Michigan this past season and they’re quality scorers that’ll allow the big man to not get double-teamed as much. If Jay Wright was still around, this probably would be the undisputed top option of the group.
