11. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Compared to the first three years in the Coach Fred Hoiberg era, the Cornhuskers had a big past season, .500 overall, and actually competitive. And the team has been hopeful that the newfound momentum would help with their action in the transfer portal and so far, that’s happened.

Nebraska has landed two transfers, including a notable big man from the Missouri Valley Conference. Rienk Mast is a 6’9 and 240-pound frontcourt player from Bradley, who averaged 13.8 ppg, 8.0 rpg, and 2.4 apg this past season. He was in double figures for 26 of 29 games, including a 30-point effort against Northern Iowa. Mast also went for a career-high 17 rebounds versus Illinoi-Chicago.

The other pickup was Brice Williams, a 6’3 guard from Charlotte. He led the 49ers in scoring at 13.8 ppg, shooting 48% from the field and 40% from three-point range. Williams had back-to-back 31-point games, as well as a career-high 32 points in double-overtime against UAB.

Nebraska doesn’t usually get top-tier transfers like these guys so this has been a very successful offseason for the program so far. And they still have some room for a couple of rotation pieces as well. Depending on who they land, could be good enough to get them back to the NCAA Tournament picture.
