Between transfers and losing seniors, Virginia is going through a complete roster rebuild. The good news for the program is that Coach Tony Bennett has plenty of both cache and playing time available for transfers and he was able to land two high-profile targets.

One is Andrew Rohde, who was one of the best freshmen in all of NCAA Basketball. He led St. Thomas with 17.1 ppg and was easily the Summit League Rookie of the Year. The 6’6 guard was in double figures in 28 of 31 games, including 12 games of at least 20 points. He had three games of eight assists as well and is a capable playmaker.

The other newcomer is a veteran in Jordan Minor. The 6’8 forward from Merrimack was both the Player of the Year and Defensive POY in the Northeast Conference and led the team with 17.4 ppg and 9.4 rpg. He had 9+ points in every game, including 25 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists against LIU Brooklyn, as well as 15 points and 20 rebounds versus Sacred Heart.

This is one of the better pairs of transfer pickups so far this offseason and both of them fill needs both inside and out. It’s not easy for newcomers to excel in Virginia’s unique system but these two have the best chance to do that this season.
