After finishing under .500 the season prior, West Virginia Basketball went through a complete roster overall a year ago. It ultimately worked out for the program, as the newcomers led them back to the NCAA Tournament and a single-digit seed.

Yet the Mountaineers knew they needed to go back to the drawing board. Leading scorer Erik Stevenson is gone, along with key rotation players, Kedrian Johnson and Emmitt Matthews. The program was not only prepared for that but has been busy replacing those players.

West Virginia Basketball should definitely be considered one of the early “winners” of the transfer portal. They’ve landed four players for next season, including two of the biggest names that have entered. Kerr Kriisa comes over from Arizona, while center Jesse Edwards averaged a double-double at Syracuse this past season.

Add two players that didn’t play this past season due to unique circumstances (Omar Silverio and Jose Perez) and that’s a very good group already. However, it looks as if the program is far from done, still reaching out to some of the top prospects still available in the transfer portal.

With a couple of roster spots left, it’ll be interesting to see who the Mountaineers ultimately land. They recently canceled a visit with Pittsburgh transfer John Hugley, who is now committed to Oklahoma. Yet more players are potentially in the mix for the Big 12 program.

Here’s a closer look at who West Virginia has landed so far, along with who reportedly could be joining them in the coming weeks.
