Posh Alexander – St. John’s Red Storm

2022-23 season stats: 10.2 ppg and 4.2 apg

One of the few available starting point guards at the power conference level, Alexander is a 6’0 ball-handler that started 77 games in three years at St. John’s. He was a double-digit scorer in all three years, along with being named Co-Big East Defensive Player of the Year, and averaged at least 4.0 apg each season.

Part of the reason why Alexander’s recruitment has been slow is his offensive concerns. He shot 40% from the field and is a lowly career 25% three-point shooter. There definitely would be some spacing problems on offense but the former Red Storm starter would shore up the defense at least.

Noah Thomasson – Niagara Purple Eagles

2022-23 season stats: 19.5 ppg and 3.5 apg

The 6’3 guard from Richmond, Texas has seen his scoring go up by 7+ points each year, leading the MAAC program on offense. Thomasson shot 48% from the floor and 39% from three-point range, and was in double figures in 29 of 31 games. He had a career-high 35 points on the road at Canisius, along with 19 points and nine assists in a game against Marist.

Thomasson was the mid-major versus of El Ellis for Niagara, playing nearly 40 minutes in every league game. He certainly wouldn’t play that much for the Cardinals but he’d be an effective role player at the ACC level. And his ability to play both perimeter positions would be an asset with this new-look roster.
