2. Nick Timberlake – Towson to Kansas

2022-23 season stats: 17.7 ppg and 2.4 apg

Estrada might’ve won CAA Player of the Year but Timberlake was just as, if not better in the league this past season. The 6’4 shooting guard led Towson in scoring and shot 42% from three-point range, as well as 85% from the free throw line. He had 12 games with at least 20 points, including 32 points on 7/11 shooting versus Hofstra and 34 points on 11/17 shooting, and 6/11 from deep versus Charleston.

Timberlake and his shooting are a big addition to Kansas, a roster that had everything but that. He’s the ideal backcourt partner for point guard Dajuan Harris and he’s a good enough athlete to play at the Big 12 level. The 6th-year senior transfer has a good chance to be an impact starter out the gate.

1. Ryan Nembhard – Creighton to Gonzaga

2022-23 season stats: 12.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg, and 4.8 apg

Nembhard is one of the best point guards in NCAA Basketball, shooting 43% from the field and 36% from three-point range. The former Big East Rookie of the Year had a 12-assist game versus Holy Cross and five 20+ point outings, including a career-high 30 points against Baylor in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 game.

Ryan follows the path of his older brother, Andrew Nembhard to Gonzaga to become their new starting point guard. He’ll pair with Nolan Hickman to create another 2-PG lineup with the Bulldogs and he should excel at the WCC level. The Bulldogs and Tennessee Volunteers were the two biggest winners in the transfer portal this past week but Gonzaga makes the claim of getting the best overall player in Nembhard.
