For the longest time, the 2023 NCAA Basketball recruiting class was mostly settled. Of all the top 50 prospects, only one was without a team for next season. And that was Bronny James, a top-40 recruit and son of NBA great, LeBron James. It was understandable that his unique recruitment would take a while.

However, Bronny isn’t the only one without a home now. As expected, the first month of the offseason has changed the tide for many prospects. Between the transfer portal pickups, coaching changes, and unexpected NBA Draft decisions, roles and rosters have changed to the point where something had to give.

Among the top 150 prospects, at least seven had de-committed. One of them was Silas Demary Jr., a four-star point guard. He left USC after Boogie Ellis opted to come back for a 5th year. He’s since made a decision, to join the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC.

There also are a couple of players that have opted to go pro, including top-30 forward Dink Pate along with AJ Johnson, a five-star guard and former Texas Longhorn commit. Look out for some class of 2024 stars that could reclass to join the 2023 class as well.

As of now, there are 12 free agents that are consensus top-200 prospects in the 2023 NCAA Basketball recruiting classes. Many of them are out on visits and could be deciding soon on where they’ll go. Here’s a profile of all 12, including where they’re reportedly looking at when it comes to programs in the mix.
