5. Carey Booth – No. 89

Booth is a 6’10 power forward and son of former NBA player, Calvin Booth. He’s an athletic prospect that has the size and the raw tools to be a future all-conference talent. Booth can shoot the ball a bit and can be an interior defender, capable of playing both frontcourt positions.

Before the season, the four-star frontcourt prospect picked Penn State over Texas, Stanford, Ohio State, and Vanderbilt. The Nittany Lions had a fantastic season, making the NCAA Tournament. However, it ended up being too good in a way, as head coach Micah Shrewsberry took a job at Notre Dame.

Penn State responded by hiring head coach Mike Rhoades but Booth opted to become a free agent. It’s not likely that he rejoins the Nittany Lions but the Fighting Irish becomes an instant contender, as the forward prospect can simply follow Shrewsberry. It makes even more sense now that forward Van-Allen Lubin, one of the lone non-freshmen players on the roster last season, recently transferred as well.

Booth took a visit to Notre Dame weeks ago and signs have pointed to him ending up there. However, nothing has happened since. The ACC program has a ton of playing time to offer and assuming the connection with the head coach is important, it should be the eventual landing spot.
