Kansas Basketball transfer target – Arterio Morris

Morris is a former five-star prospect that played at Texas this past season, coming off the bench. He averaged 4.6 ppg and 1.4 apg in 12 mpg, shooting 41% from the field and 33% from three-point range. Even in limited minutes, the 6’3 playmaker had some big games, including six double-digit scoring games.

The biggest one was the 25-point effort against Louisiana in 18 minutes, making 9/11 of his shots and 5/7 from deep. It also wasn’t a case where Morris wasn’t good either, since he was playing in a crowded backcourt. Marcus Carr and Tyrese Hunter were the clear starters, while Sir’Jabari Rice became the breakout star off the bench.

Assuming that Kevin McCullar remains in the NBA Draft, that would leave just one returning guard on the roster in point guard Dajuan Harris. The addition of Timberlake gives them another veteran, while Kansas adds a trio of four-star guards as well. Elmarko Jackson is a top-30 combo guard, while Chris Johnson and Jamari McDowell also could be part of the rotation.

If you’re the Jayhawks, you definitely want to take a flyer out on Morris and see what he does in extra minutes. And if Primo Spears has to sit out a year, there’s a world where you can take both guards and make it work both short and long-term. But if you’re Morris, do you pick Kansas and risk another small role or do you join Coach Chris Beard over at Ole Miss for a more secure set of minutes?
